Build a turkey from a pine cone, autumn leaves, and a tree nut. Collect the materials on a fall nature walk and assemble them at home. It makes a great table decoration or take-home craft for classrooms.

Materials
- 1 pine cone
- 5-7 colorful autumn leaves
- 1 round tree nut (acorn or hickory nut)
- Yellow felt
- Red felt
- 2 googly eyes
- Tacky glue or hot glue

Steps
- Collect your materials. Go outside and gather a pine cone, colorful fall leaves, and a round tree nut. Let them dry if they’re damp.
- Make the tail. Glue the autumn leaves to the back/bottom of the pine cone, fanning them outward. Use the most colorful leaves you can find. Let the glue set.
- Build the head. Cut a small triangle beak from yellow felt. Cut a thin snood (the dangling red piece under a turkey’s chin) from red felt. Glue the felt pieces and googly eyes onto the tree nut.
- Attach the head. Glue the completed head onto the top front of the pine cone body. Hold in place until the glue grabs.
Grownup help needed: Hot glue (if using) and cutting felt.
