Turn breakfast into a craft project! These penguin pancakes are built from stacked pancakes, chocolate coating, and cheese accessories. This creative breakfast is perfect for a weekend morning project.

Ingredients

  • Pancakes (homemade or from a mix)
  • Melted chocolate or chocolate yogurt
  • American or cheddar cheese (for beak and feet)
  • Raisin or chocolate chip (for the eye)
  • Vanilla yogurt or whipped cream (for the white belly)
  • Shredded coconut (for “snow,” optional)
  • Hard-boiled egg (optional)

Steps

  1. Make pancakes. Cook pancakes in different sizes: two large (for body and wings) and one small one (for the head).
  2. Arrange the body. Place a large pancake in the center of your plate. For the head, add the small pancake above it. Cut two wing shapes and an oval-shaped belly from the remaining large pancake. Arrange on the plate, as shown.
  3. Add the tuxedo. Spread melted chocolate over the body, wings, and head, leaving an oval of white (vanilla yogurt or whipped cream) on the belly.
  4. Add the face. Press a raisin or chocolate chip on for an eye. Cut a small triangle from cheese for the beak.
  5. Add feet. Cut two larger triangles from cheese and place them at the bottom. Arrange the egg between the penguin’s feet.
  6. Add snow. Sprinkle shredded coconut around the base for a snowy scene.
  7. Eat your penguin. Time to waddle over and dig in for breakfast!
