Turn taco night into a turkey celebration! These tacos use bell pepper wedges as feathers, a cheese slice shaped into a head, and olive eyes to transform an ordinary taco into a turkey that’s almost too fun to eat.
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 0 minutes (uses pre-cooked filling)
Total Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 1 turkey taco
Difficulty Level: Easy
Ingredients
- 1 hard taco shell
- Shredded cooked turkey or chicken (leftovers work great)
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 yellow bell pepper
- 1 orange bell pepper
- 1 slice of American cheese
- black olive
Allergy notes: Contains dairy (cheese). Check taco shell for wheat/corn.
Substitutions:
- No turkey? Shredded chicken, ground meat, or beans all work.
- No American cheese? Any sliced cheese you can cut into shapes.
Steps
- Fill the taco. Place shredded turkey inside the taco shell and set it upright on a plate.
- Make the feathers. Cut wedges from the red, yellow, and orange bell peppers. Arrange them behind the taco shell, fanning outward to create a colorful turkey tail.
- Cut the head. From the American cheese slice, cut a turkey head and neck shape (a small circle with a narrow strip). Place it on top of the taco shell, as shown.
- Add the beak and snood. Cut a small triangle from orange pepper for the beak. Cut a thin strip of red pepper for the snood (the fleshy part that hangs under a turkey’s chin). Attach both to the cheese head.
- Add eyes. Cut small rounds from black olives and press them onto the cheese head.
- Eat your turkey. Start with the feathers (extra veggies!) and work your way to the taco.
