Turn pine cones and cotton balls into a family of snowy owls. Stretch cotton between the pine cone’s scales for feathers, add paper wings and googly eyes, and you’ve got an owl that looks like it just flew in from the Arctic.

Materials
- 1 large pine cone (for parent owl)
- 1-2 small pine cones (for baby owls)
- Cotton balls
- White construction paper
- Yellow construction paper
- Googly eyes
- Glue
- Poly-fil stuffing (for baby owls)

- Toothpick (for applying glue)
Steps
- Add the feathers. Use a toothpick to dab small dots of glue between the scales of the large pine cone. Stretch cotton balls into thin wisps and poke them into the gaps. Cover the entire cone for a fluffy white appearance.
- Make the wings. Cut two wing shapes from white paper. Stretch more cotton balls and glue them onto the wings for feathered texture. Let dry.
- Attach the wings. Glue the wings to the sides of the pine cone body.
- Make the face. Glue googly eyes onto yellow paper circles. Cut the circles out with a small border of yellow showing around each eye. Glue the eyes onto the top of the pine cone.
- Add the beak. Break off a single scale from a spare pine cone. Glue it between the eyes as a small, pointed beak.
- Make baby owls. Repeat with small pine cones. Use poly-fil stuffing instead of cotton balls for a different fluffy texture.
