Celebrate the Fourth of July with an edible American flag made from berries, yogurt, a pretzel rod, and a graham cracker. This no-bake snack takes about 20 minutes and is easy enough for kids age 5 and up to make on their own.

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes

Servings: 1

Difficulty Level: Easy

Ingredients

  • 1 large graham cracker
  • 3 tablespoons vanilla yogurt
  • Blueberries (about 2 tablespoons)
  • Raspberries (about 6-8, cut in half)
  • 1 pretzel rod

Allergy notes: Contains wheat and dairy. Check yogurt and graham cracker labels for additional allergens.

Substitutions:

  • Dairy-free? Use coconut or oat milk yogurt.
  • Gluten-free? Use a gluten-free cracker or a rice cake as the base.
  • No raspberries? Strawberry slices or dried cranberries work for the red stripes.

Tools

  • Butter knife or spoon (for spreading yogurt)
  • Plate
  • Small knife (for cutting raspberries)

Steps

  1. Spread the yogurt. Place the graham cracker on a plate. Spread vanilla yogurt evenly across the entire surface.
  2. Add the stars. Place blueberries in the top left corner of the cracker to represent the blue field of stars.
  3. Make the stripes. Cut raspberries in half. Arrange them in rows across the cracker to create red stripes, leaving the yogurt showing between rows for white stripes.
  4. Add the flagpole. Place the pretzel rod along the left edge of the cracker to serve as the flagpole.
  5. Serve. Display your flag, admire it, and then eat it.
