No supplies, no cost, no cleanup. A dandelion chain is one of the simplest nature crafts there is, and kids have been making them for generations. All you need is a patch of dandelions with long stems and a few minutes outside.
Materials
- Fresh dandelions with long stems (the longer the better!)
- That’s it!
Steps
- Pick your dandelions. Look for ones with the longest stems you can find. Pick them close to the base of the stem.
- Make a slit. Use your thumbnail to make a small slit near the middle of the first dandelion’s stem.
- Thread the next one through. Slide the stem of the second dandelion through the slit until the flower head stops it.
- Repeat. Make a slit in the second stem and thread the third dandelion through. Keep going until your chain is as long as you want.
- Close the loop. To make a crown or bracelet, thread the last stem through a slit in the first dandelion’s stem, connecting the two ends into a circle.
