Materials
- slice of toast
- peanut butter
- birdseed
- 12 inches of yarn or string
- cookie cutter (any shape: star, heart, circle, animal)
Tools
- chopstick or straw (for making the hanging hole)
- butter knife (for spreading)
Steps
- Cut the shape. Press a cookie cutter into the slice of toast to cut out a shape. Remove the surrounding bread.
- Make a hole. Poke a hole near the top of the shape using a chopstick or straw. Thread the yarn through and tie a knot to create a hanging loop.
- Spread peanut butter. Cover one or both sides of the toast shape with a layer of peanut butter.
- Add birdseed. Press the peanut butter side into a plate of birdseed, coating it thoroughly. Press extra seeds into any bare spots.
- Hang outside. Tie the feeder to a tree branch, fence, or railing where you can watch from a window.
Grownup help needed: Younger kids may need help cutting and poking the hole.
