Bat Finger Puppet Pattern
Tools:
- Scissors (grownup help needed for the finger hole)
- Black marker or crayon
Don’t have the printable? Draw your own bat shape freehand. Make it about the size of your hand with outstretched wings, a rounded body in the middle, and pointed ears on top. No brown paper? Black works even better for bats. Or use any color and decorate it however you like.
Steps
- Print the pattern. Download and print the bat finger puppet pattern.
- Trace and cut. Place the pattern on brown or black construction paper. Trace around it with a pencil, then cut out the bat shape.
- Draw the face. Use a black marker or crayon to add eyes, a nose, and a mouth. Give your bat a friendly smile, sharp fangs, or a sleepy expression.
- Cut the finger hole. Fold the bat in half along the body. Cut two small slits in the center of the fold, about an inch apart. When you unfold it, you’ll have a slot just big enough for your finger to poke through.
- Fly your bat! Slip your finger through the hole from behind. Wiggle your finger to make the bat’s wings flap.
Grownup help needed: Step 4 (cutting the finger hole through a fold) requires precision with scissors. An adult should handle this for younger kids.
