Your hand is already shaped like a fish. The fingers are the tail fin. The palm is the body. All you need to do is trace, cut, and decorate.
Materials
Supplies:
- Construction paper (blue for the bowl, plus one or more colors for the fish)
- 1 googly eye
- Sequins or O-shaped cereal (for bubbles)
- Craft glue or glue stick
Tools:
- Pencil
- Scissors (grownup help needed)
- Black marker
No sequins? Draw circles with a white crayon or cut tiny dots from white paper. No googly eye? Draw one with a marker.
Steps
- Cut the fishbowl. Cut a large fishbowl shape from blue construction paper. A simple rounded rectangle or oval works.
- Trace your hand. Spread your fingers apart on a piece of colored construction paper. Trace around your hand with a pencil.
- Cut out the handprint. Cut along the traced line. This is your fish. The fingers are the tail fin and the thumb sticks out as a top fin.
- Glue the fish in the bowl. Place the handprint cutout on the blue fishbowl paper with the fingers (tail) pointing to one side. Glue it down.
- Add the eye. Stick a googly eye on the palm area, near the wrist end. That’s the fish’s head.
- Draw the mouth. Use a black marker to draw a small curved mouth on the head end.
- Add bubbles. Glue sequins or cereal pieces near the mouth, trailing upward. Bubbles!
- Add details. Draw fin lines on the fingers with a marker. Add scales, stripes, or spots to the body if you want.
